JIC (Joint Industry Counsel)
- JIC are available from 1/4″ to 1-1/4″ thread
- For both 2 wire and 4 wire hoses up to 1-1/4″
- The mating surfaces create the seal, no sealant needed
- Very common style, very reliable
- Female is swivel for easy installation
NPT (National Pipe Thread)
- Comes in straight, 90 (L, M, S) and 45
- Has swivel male (left most) and female (right most) hydraulic hose fitting
- Seal is made by meshing threads, requires sealant
- Available in 1/8″ through 1-1/4″ threads
- Fits hoses from 1/4″ through 1″
- 2 wire hose, not for 4 wire high pressure hose
Flat Face or Face seal
- O-ring seals on the flat surface of the female side of the hydraulic hose fitting
- Fits hoses from 1/4″ to 1-1/4″
- 2 Wire and 4 Wire
- Swivel Female for ease of installation
Metric Light & Heavy
- Metric light for low pressure & heavy for high pressure
- The difference between them is Metric Heavy the female stem is thicker with a thinner male thread
- The hoses are in standard inches sizes while the thread sizes are in MM
- O-ring and cone create the seal, no sealant required
British Standard Parallel Pipe (BSPP)
- British pipe is not tapered like NPT
- Sized like NPT 1/4″, 3/8″, 1/2″, 3/4″, 1″, 1-1/4, 1-1/2″
Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS)
- Similar to JIC but with 30° Flare
- Available in all hose sizes
- Male and female fittings
Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE)
- SAE are available from 1/4″ to 1-1/4″ thread
- SAE uses a 45° flare
Caterpillar Flange Fittings
- Cat hydraulic hose fittings are available in 3/4″ through 1-1/4″ 4 wire and 1-1/2″ 6 wire
- Straight, 22.5°, 30°, 45°, 60°, and 90° fittings
- 45° & 90° are available in regular and long drop
Code 61 & Code 62 Flange
- Both types of high pressure hydraulic hose fittings are available in 1/2″ through 1-1/2″
